Dropbox Forcing Older Users To Password Update
If you have a Dropbox account and haven’t changed your password since 2012 it would be a wise move to update your credentials as soon as possible.
As you can see the team at Dropbox states “This is purely a preventive measure, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience”.
They also stated on their blog that “Based on our threat monitoring and the way we secure passwords, we don’t believe that any accounts have been improperly accessed. Still, as one of many precautions, we’re requiring anyone who hasn’t changed their password since mid-2012 to update it the next time they sign in”.
Dropbox is know urging it’s customers to update to a more secure and robust password and is now implementing a 2 stage verification process.
According to BusinessInsider up to 70 million passwords have been deceptively obtained.
